RECIPE: Roll-Out Sugar Cookie Dough!

cookie dough

This recipe for sugar cookie dough has been in my family for years. I think what makes it taste so good is the addition of almond extract; it just adds an extra-special flavor to the cookies!

I like to make the dough the day before baking so that it can firm up in the fridge overnight. This dough is very sticky, and you’ll need to coat the surface of your counter with flour in order to roll it out. Then simply use your favorite cookie cutters, bake, cool, and frost!

  • 2 sticks of butter or margarine, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 3 3/4 cups flour

  1. Cream butter/margarine and sugar together
  2. Add in eggs, beating well
  3. Add in additional ingredients and mix until combined
  4. Chill overnight
  5. Using a floured surface, roll out and use cookie cutters
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes
  7. Allow to cool and then frost and decorate
